Muslim/Muslim Ticket for APC in 2015 Presidential Election

There were very strong indications at the weekend that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governors who defected to the All Progressive Congress, APC, are ready to fully engage leaders of their new party, former military head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari, and former Lagos State governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, over the growing suggestion that both men are plotting to contest as presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2015 elections, Sunday Vanguard can reveal.

The other leg of the twist to the emerging katakata in APC is the position of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who is said to favour the emergence of Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as the party’s presidential candidate.

Jonathan's Political Foes are Behind Boko Haram - Alaafin

ALAAFIN of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has flayed the activities of the Boko Haram sect, saying that the group is being sponsored by enemies of President Goodluck Jonathan to achieve political goals.

The Alafin in a letter of sympathy to the president following the Nyanya, Abuja bomb blast, said the group’s alleged links to Islam was unfounded as he said that Boko Haram’s activities were against the injunctions of the religion. In the letter dated April 16, 2014, the monarch urged the president to seek international cooperation from neighboring countries towards stemming the activities of the insurgents.

APC Problems Begin from State to State

The just concluded ward and local government congresses of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, have divided the party structure in the state into two, with one side praising the conduct of the election while the other side is opposing same and had called for its cancellation.

The division is coming just as an APC leader in the state, Major Isaac Tobore (rtd), who is aspiring to be the state chairman of the party, said that the elections were inconclusive and massively rigged, adding that what happened was a charade and a game of selection done by decampees from other political parties outside the congress venues, against the dictate of the party, the will and interest of the original party members. He called for the cancellation of the entire elections.

Reaction of Presidency to Nyako Letter

The Presidency on Saturday reacted sharply to a letter written by Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State to his northern governors, Nyako had in the letter accused the Federal Government under President Goodluck Jonathan’s watch as carrying out genocide against northern states with impunity.

President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe,, therefore, urged Nigerians to ignore the letter which he described as senseless letter. “It is obvious that Governor Nyako’s opposition to the declaration of a state of emergency in three affected states of the North East as well as his repeated calls for the withdrawal of the Military from troubled states without any credible alternative or security road map, is an open endorsement of the activities of the insurgents which is meant to provide them unrestricted opportunity to further unleash terror on innocent citizens in order to precipitate chaos, further instability, mayhem and anarchy; a situation which they intend to exploit to undermine the administration and truncate our growing democracy. This, Nigerians will surely not allow to happen.”
